The San José Fire Department said the call came in at 1:23 PM, and a department alert identified the incident as a Tier 1 vegetation fire. The initial update urged the public to avoid the area and did not provide information about injuries, evacuations, the cause or containment.

Traffic Impacts Near La Ragione Avenue
Drivers near the La Ragione Avenue and Albanese Cl. area should expect emergency activity and possible delays while crews work the fire. San José fire officials did not provide details on a full road closure, so motorists should avoid the area when possible and leave room for responding apparatus.
San Jose Is Seeing An Early Fire Season
The response comes as San José officials warn that vegetation fires are already putting pressure on local crews. In a July 1 update, the City of San José said the Fire Department had responded to more than 700 vegetation fires and over 400 structure fires in 2026 by that point.
The incident also follows a June vegetation fire near Los Lagos that burned roughly an acre and prompted a larger response as crews worked near nearby homes. Hoodline previously reported that traffic was affected during that South San Jose response.
