Nashville is back on the SEC football media map. Commissioner Greg Sankey is bringing the league’s high-wattage Media Days to Music City for four days in July 2027, with the event locked in for July 12–15. It will be the second time Nashville has hosted the conference’s preseason showcase, although the SEC is still keeping the 2027 venue under wraps.
Sankey revealed the return trip during Monday’s opening session of this year’s Media Days in Tampa, according to WSMV. The station notes that Nashville last welcomed the SEC Kickoff in 2023 at the Grand Hyatt downtown and that the league has yet to announce where the 2027 edition will set up shop.
Music City’s 2023 welcome
Nashville’s first turn hosting SEC Media Days came in July 2023, when the conference based its operations at the Grand Hyatt and rolled out a street-side SEC Nation special on Lower Broadway, per SEC Sports. The SEC and its media partners said the 2023 kickoff generated extensive coverage and brought more than 1,000 credentialed media members to town, with SEC Network expanding its studio lineup from Music City, as outlined by ESPN.
Tampa now, Nashville next
This year’s Media Days are underway in downtown Tampa, where fans are streaming through a “Thunder Alley” activation outside Benchmark International Arena alongside a weekend slate of live broadcasts and events. WWSB has documented the fan scene, and earlier reporting highlighted that Tampa marks the first time the SEC has staged Media Days in Florida as part of its rotating-city experiment. Saturday Down South has tracked the move away from longtime host Hoover and the growing list of cities across the league’s footprint that are getting a turn.
