A person was hospitalized after police say a driver intentionally struck them with a vehicle early Sunday on the 4600 block of New Hampshire Avenue NW in Northwest D.C. Surveillance video released by authorities shows a sedan turning around in traffic and hitting the victim. The driver took off, and the injured person was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.
In the clip, investigators say a gray sedan appears to reverse course around 5 a.m., swing back into the lane and make contact with the person before speeding away. Officers later shared still images of the car in an effort to identify it and the driver. As reported by WJLA, no arrests had been announced as of the latest update.
Police ask for tips
The Metropolitan Police Department is asking anyone with information to call (202) 727-9099 or text the department tip line at 50411, per the Metropolitan Police Department. Detectives say they are actively investigating and are using the released footage and still photos to try to zero in on the vehicle and driver.
Investigators also urged residents and businesses along New Hampshire Avenue NW to check any available doorbell cameras or security systems around the time of the incident and to share anything that could help the case.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or captured it on dash-cam or doorbell camera can submit tips to police, and those tips can be provided anonymously. WJLA includes the police-released images and a link to the department video for those who want another look at the sedan involved.
