A weekend swim at the Lake of the Ozarks turned tragic Saturday when a 62-year-old man from Shawnee, Kansas, drowned after going under while swimming off a dock. The incident happened near Crescent Drive, close to the 8-mile marker, shortly before 4:40 p.m., and recovery crews did not find the man until roughly three hours later.
According to First Alert 4, the man went under and did not resurface while swimming off a dock. Emergency responders later recovered him, and he was pronounced dead that evening. The station identified the victim by age and hometown but did not release his name.

Officials have not released the man's name and say the investigation is ongoing; authorities have not yet indicated whether alcohol, a medical event or other factors played a role. Anyone with information is asked to contact Troop F of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, which handles Lake of the Ozarks incidents. Local agencies continue to warn visitors to treat the water with caution, and recovery teams worked into the evening in the Crescent Drive area, according to First Alert 4.
