St. Peters is about to get a new place where online bargain hunting meets warehouse logistics, with MAC.BID planning a fall opening and more than 70 jobs on the way. The Pennsylvania-based retail liquidation company says the facility will become its 30th warehouse. For local shoppers, it could also mean a new source for returned and overstocked merchandise without waiting for a package to cross the country.
According to First Alert 4, MAC.BID announced Wednesday that the St. Peters location is expected to open sometime this fall. Kellen Campbell, the company’s co-founder and president, said MAC.BID is excited to join the St. Peters and greater St. Louis communities while hiring more than 70 people.
Auctioned Returns And Overstocked Goods
MAC.BID buys returned and excess merchandise from retailers, then lists the items in online auctions that start at $1 with no reserve. The company’s official auction guide says winning customers pick up their purchases at one of its warehouse locations, with categories ranging from appliances and furniture to electronics, toys and home goods.
The St. Peters announcement arrives as MAC.BID continues a rapid national expansion. In April, the company announced its 29th warehouse in El Paso, Texas, and said it had more than 1,600 employees across nearly 30 locations; Hoodline previously reported that the El Paso expansion also centered on $1 starting bids and new local hiring.
Why St. Peters Keeps Landing Warehouses
The city has spent years building out its industrial and distribution footprint around Highway 370 and Interstate 70. The City of St. Peters says more than 7 million square feet of new commercial space has been developed since 2017, while its economic-development pitch specifically highlights warehouse and distribution projects.
That backdrop gives MAC.BID access to major highways, a large regional customer base and an established logistics corridor. The city’s Highway 370 development page lists Amazon, FedEx, Best Buy, Medline and other distribution or manufacturing operations among the businesses already operating in the area.
Exact opening and hiring details for the St. Peters warehouse were not included in Wednesday’s announcement. For now, the headline is straightforward: more than 70 jobs are expected, the warehouse is targeted for this fall, and the St. Louis region is about to get another warehouse full of items that may begin their second life at a bargain bid.
