Surprise police say a 27-year-old car-wash manager is behind bars after allegedly having sex with a 17-year-old employee who worked under him.
Christian Bourn was arrested July 21 and booked on charges of child enticement, luring a minor for sexual exploitation and two counts of sexual conduct with a minor. Police say the alleged victim was a 17-year-old subordinate and that Bourn is being held on a $55,000 bond. Court records and police reports indicate he was already on probation for a prior child-abuse conviction.
Where he worked
Bourn worked as a manager at the Cobblestone Auto Spa on Waddell Road, according to Cobblestone Auto Spa, which lists that location at 16625 W Waddell Rd.
Detectives say the encounter tied to the case happened near a nearby big-box store. The Walmart Supercenter at Prasada Gateway lists its address as 14111 N Prasada Gateway Ave, per Walmart.
Investigation and arrest
Surprise police opened an investigation on June 18 and say detectives gathered biological evidence tied to a vehicle involved in the case. According to investigators, the alleged encounter happened June 11 in a Walmart parking lot off Prasada Gateway. Officers arrested Bourn on July 21.
According to FOX 10 Phoenix, court records and police reports say Bourn initially denied any inappropriate contact but later confessed to sending nude photos to the teen knowing she was underage and to having sex with her in her car. The same records say the victim told investigators she agreed to the encounter to get back at an ex-boyfriend. Court records also state Bourn was already on probation for a prior child-abuse conviction, that he was booked on child-enticement, luring a minor for sexual exploitation and two counts of sexual conduct with a minor, is being held on a $55,000 bond and has a hearing set for July 28.
What happens next
The case is set to move through Maricopa County Superior Court, where judges will consider pretrial motions at the July 28 hearing. Bourn remains presumed innocent pending any formal indictment or conviction.
Because the allegations involve a minor and Bourn was already on probation for a prior child-abuse conviction, any additional convictions could carry significant legal and probation-related consequences.
