Thousands of residents across eastern San Diego suddenly found themselves in the dark yesterday when an unplanned power outage cut electricity to several neighborhoods. Lights flicked off around lunchtime, leaving homes, traffic signals and small businesses scrambling while utility crews rushed to track down the problem.
According to FOX 5 San Diego, the outage was first reported at about 12:45 PM and hit Grantville, Allied Gardens, Del Cerro, Lake Murray, Mission Gorge and Sycamore Canyon. Crews from SDG&E were dispatched to investigate, but the cause of the outage was not immediately known.

SDG&E's online outage map showed 3,038 customers without electricity and listed an estimated restoration time of 2 PM, with crews working to isolate and repair the issue. The utility's circuit-level status page provides real-time updates for specific blocks and shifting restoration windows as the work progresses.
