A Clarksville, Arkansas man is behind bars in Wagoner County after deputies say he showed up at a Casey’s convenience store in Broken Arrow expecting to meet a 15-year-old for sex. The undercover sting ended in a brief struggle in the parking lot, where deputies say the suspect resisted and had to be taken to the ground before he was taken into custody. He was booked into the Wagoner County Detention Center on complaints that include facilitate sexual conduct with a minor, child sexual exploitation and resisting an executive officer.
According to FOX23, the suspect was identified as Michael Schuster of Clarksville. Investigators say Schuster first made contact online with a decoy posing as a 15-year-old, then agreed to meet at the Casey’s in Broken Arrow. Deputies moved in when he arrived and allege that he resisted arrest before they subdued him and transported him to the Wagoner County Detention Center on the listed complaints.
Undercover Operation and Sheriff's Response
The Wagoner County Sheriff's Office says the bust was part of a broader late May operation targeting adults who seek sexual activity with minors. As KJRH reported, a separate May 30 decoy operation ended when deputies stopped a Tulsa man on the Broken Arrow Expressway after he fled from a planned meeting with what he thought was a teen. Sheriff Chris Elliot told KJRH, “Cases like this demonstrate exactly why proactive undercover operations are so important,” and he praised investigators for preventing any contact with an actual child.
Other Arrests and the Wider Trend
Wagoner County's recent decoy stings have already produced multiple arrests. Local outlet KRMG detailed the arrest of Aaron Wendt, who allegedly led deputies on a dangerous pursuit before they took him into custody. In a related case, a registered offender, Marcus Mapes, was also arrested in another teen-decoy operation, according to a report on a registered offender in a teen-decoy bust. Authorities say these operations combine online monitoring with targeted in-person arrests to stop suspected predators before they can meet real minors.
Charges and Next Steps
Per FOX23, Schuster was booked on complaints that include facilitate sexual conduct with a minor, child sexual exploitation and resisting an executive officer. Investigators have forwarded their materials to the Wagoner County district attorney for review, and no additional court dates had been released in the available reports. Authorities are asking anyone with information relevant to the case to contact the Wagoner County Sheriff's Office.
Where This Fits
Crackdowns like Wagoner County's mirror similar efforts in neighboring states. In February, the Arkansas Attorney General's office announced a multi-agency Hot Springs operation that resulted in several arrests for sexual solicitation, reflecting a broader push by law enforcement to focus on the “demand” side of online exploitation. Arkansas Attorney General Tim Griffin said investigators are increasingly shifting resources toward those who solicit minors online.
Schuster remains in custody while prosecutors review the case. No additional public records about the investigation had been released at the time of reporting.
