Police response and lookout
The Metropolitan Police Department said Sixth District officers were called to the 4300 block of E Street SE around 10:39 p.m. on July 1 after reports of gunfire, according to WJLA. AlertDC, the city's public-safety feed, posted an MPD alert with a lookout for a 6-foot Black juvenile male wearing black Under Armour clothing and a ski mask, and warned residents not to confront the suspect.
Site near a youth group home
Police said the shooting happened close to the Umbrella Therapeutic Services-Youth facility on E Street SE. A city youth-resources directory lists Umbrella at 4308 E Street SE and describes it as a therapeutic group-home provider, per the directory, and local business listings show the same address.
