Two unidentified people discharged firearms in the middle of the night on an Upper Manhattan block, and police are now asking for the public’s help identifying them.
The gunfire happened at approximately 12:25 a.m. on July 15 in front of 520 West 136 Street, within the NYPD’s 30th Precinct, according to a Crime Stoppers alert posted Thursday. The two individuals fled the area, and the public notice did not mention any injuries or a possible motive.
Police Say The Suspects Fled After The Shooting
The NYPD is seeking the pair in connection with a reckless-endangerment investigation. Police have not publicly released descriptions, said whether the individuals have been identified, or announced any arrests or charges in the case.
The appeal comes two weeks after the reported gunfire, giving investigators a fresh push for witnesses, surveillance footage, cellphone video, or other information that could help establish what happened before and after the shots were fired.
Anonymous Tips Could Bring A $3,500 Reward
According to the NYPD Crime Stoppers program, anonymous information that leads to an arrest and indictment of a violent felon may qualify for a reward of up to $3,500. Tips can be submitted by calling 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or through the program’s online tip system.
The police appeal also directs anyone with information to contact @NYPDTips. Crime Stoppers says tipsters do not have to provide their names, appear in court, or make a statement to police.
