UC Health is shutting down Bridgeway Pointe in Cincinnati this fall, giving roughly 50 assisted-living residents and about 70 employees until Oct. 31 to find their next move. The closure will erase another major piece of the Daniel Drake campus, where UC Health already ended post-acute operations last year.
Cincinnati.com reports that UC Health explored a third-party operator or ownership change that could keep Bridgeway Pointe open, but said it could not find a sustainable long-term path. The health system will provide residents and families with resources and guidance as they consider other assisted-living options.
The decision is the latest turn in a restructuring that began in May 2025, when UC Health announced it would close Daniel Drake Center for Post-Acute Care and shift resources toward high-demand primary and specialty services. That announcement said Bridgeway would be listed for purchase and would continue operating while a future owner was identified. Becker's Hospital Review described the move as part of UC Health's broader exit from long-term post-acute and skilled nursing care.
Residents And Staff Are Being Moved Into Transition Plans
Bridgeway Pointe was built as more than a stand-alone senior residence. The community's website describes assisted living and memory-care neighborhoods connected to Daniel Drake, with access to UC Health services next door.
“Our priority now is supporting our residents, families, and employees with individualized support throughout this transition,” Alex Lolli said, according to Cincinnati.com. UC Health also said Bridgeway employees will receive priority consideration for other available positions within the health system.
The Bridgeway closure follows Daniel Drake Center's shutdown on June 5, 2025, which removed more than 200 patient beds from the community and affected more than 400 employees. With Bridgeway scheduled to close Oct. 31, another major chapter of the Daniel Drake campus's healthcare operations is coming to an end.
