A man was found dead with at least one gunshot wound inside a Vallejo encampment Tuesday night, prompting a homicide investigation and becoming the city’s eighth homicide of 2026. His identity has not been released while authorities work to notify his family.
Vallejo Police Department patrol officers responded at about 10:27 PM to a report of an unresponsive male in an encampment on the 3900 block of Sonoma Boulevard, according to the Vallejo Police Department. Officers found an adult male with at least one gunshot wound and no signs of life. Emergency medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene, police said.
Detectives Take Over Investigation On Sonoma Boulevard
The Detective Division has taken over the case, while the motive and circumstances remain under investigation. The Neighborhood Impact Team was activated, and IHART provided trauma-informed outreach and connections to resources for impacted residents and businesses.
The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin by the Solano County Sheriff’s Coroner’s Office. Detectives are asking anyone who witnessed the shooting or knows what happened to come forward.
Vallejo’s Homicide Count Rose Three Times In Just Over A Week
The latest killing came just over a week after a fatal shooting on Lainey Court that NBC Bay Area reported was Vallejo’s sixth homicide of 2026. The outlet later reported that a woman found near an I-80 interchange died from blunt-force trauma, marking the city’s seventh homicide.
