A 36-year-old man is in custody after what police describe as an armed robbery in Waikiki on May 30, when investigators say he pointed a handgun at an 18-year-old and demanded items during the encounter.
Authorities say the break in the case came when the suspect allegedly tried to cash in on the crime. According to Hawaii News Now, the victim’s stolen bank card was used at a convenience store, and officers later traced that transaction to identify the suspect. Police arrested the man on Wednesday, July 22.
