Akron police are asking Kenmore residents to help identify a person investigators say has been breaking into properties, stealing appliances and destroying property for scrap. The suspect is identified publicly only by case number #26-019370.
According to an Akron Police Department Facebook post, the alleged activity has taken place in the Kenmore area. APD also warns residents not to post names, phone numbers or other personal information in comments, asking anyone with information to send it privately instead.
How Akron Residents Can Submit Tips
The department says tips can be sent to Detective S. Flaherty at 330-375-2464, the APD tip line at 330-375-2TIP, or Summit County Crime Stoppers at 330-434-COPS. Anonymous texts can be sent to 274637 using the keyword TIPSCO, and APD also accepts information through its online tip resources and mobile app.
The public notice does not include a physical description of the suspect, an exact property address or a reported loss total. That leaves neighbors with a straightforward assignment: pass along what they know directly to investigators, rather than turning the comments section into a neighborhood identification board.
There is some local precedent for this kind of appeal. In 2024, Hoodline reported on a separate Akron police request involving two people suspected of stealing scrap metal from a Kenmore-area business; that case included an abandoned ATV and an on-foot escape. The current APD post does not say whether the cases are connected.
For now, police are asking anyone who recognizes the suspect or has information about the alleged thefts and property damage to contact investigators directly. Callers can remain anonymous, and the department specifically asks residents to keep personal information out of public comments.
