San Antonio woke Monday under clear skies and temperatures in the mid-70s, but the cool start will not last long. The city is headed for another afternoon near 103 degrees, with dangerous heat continuing through midweek.
The National Weather Service forecasts sunny skies and no rain Monday, with south winds between 5 and 10 mph. A Heat Advisory covers Bexar County through 7 p.m. Wednesday, warning that parts of the region could reach 105 degrees with heat-index values as high as 110.
This is a sharper update to the broader stretch of triple-digit weather Hoodline previously reported last week. Tuesday and Wednesday will remain sunny, with highs near 102 and overnight lows in the mid-to-upper 70s.
Little Relief After Sunset
Monday night will be mostly clear with a low around 76, but humidity could keep the heat index near 100. Tuesday night will only cool to about 77, and south-southeast winds could gust up to 20 mph.
Rain chances finally return Thursday afternoon, but they remain slight at about 20%. Friday could bring another small chance of showers or thunderstorms after 1 p.m., while Saturday and Sunday are expected to stay sunny with highs near 99.
Heat Safety Remains The Priority
Residents should limit strenuous outdoor activity to the early morning or evening, drink plenty of fluids, wear lightweight clothing and take frequent breaks in shade or air conditioning. San Antonio’s Project Cool program also offers heat-relief assistance for qualifying residents age 60 and older.
Check on older adults, young children, neighbors and anyone without reliable air conditioning during the hottest part of the day. Anyone showing signs of heat exhaustion or heat stroke should be moved to a cool place immediately, with 911 called for suspected heat stroke.
