According to CBS Philadelphia, Delaware County dispatchers were alerted to the report on South Clifton Avenue, and the outlet described the situation as developing with updates expected as more information becomes available. Separately, Cedar News reported that officers responded near Providence Road just south of Clifton Avenue and Aldan Avenue around 3:35 a.m., where investigators closed Aldan Avenue to traffic and placed evidence markers along the street. The response drew on the kind of mutual aid common among Delaware County's small municipal departments, per the same outlet.
A Rare Disruption for a Quiet Borough
Aldan is a borough of roughly 4,150 residents that has historically seen very little violent crime. On Wednesday, a 73-year-old Aldan resident, Stephen M. Cilurso, pleaded guilty in Philadelphia federal court to federal charges of mail stalking and witness tampering involving a Philadelphia television news personality, as reported by The Philadelphia Inquirer. That plea came one day before Thursday's shooting investigation, though the dossier does not indicate any connection between the two matters.
