According to a New Jersey Department of Health Certificate of Need filing, the three-story hospital sits at 23 Jimmie Leeds Road, about a mile east of AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's Mainland Campus. The state granted expedited review approval for the hospital's relocation and replacement of the former Bacharach license in August 2024.
That same filing shows Kessler Rehabilitation Services, Inc., a Select Medical subsidiary, is responsible for day-to-day clinical operations at the new hospital. Beyond stroke, neurological, and limb-loss recovery, state records show the facility is also licensed to treat traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, and severe orthopedic trauma, conditions that regional health officials say previously sent some local patients out of the area for specialized rehab.
A Name Honoring Bacharach, a New Operator in Select Medical
The hospital sits within Bacharach Park, a name chosen to honor the Bacharach Institute for Rehabilitation, an 80-bed hospital that had served Galloway Township since 1924. Per Wikipedia, Bacharach closed in March 2023 after nearly a century of operation, worn down by financial pressures and aging infrastructure.
The new hospital is run as a joint venture between AtlantiCare Health System and Select Medical Corporation, with Select Medical serving as majority owner and managing partner, according to a PR Newswire announcement. The same joint venture folded in 13 NovaCare Rehabilitation outpatient centers across southeastern New Jersey.
Staffing and AtlantiCare's Six-Year Vision 2030 Plan
Clinical care at the hospital is led by board-certified physiatrists, supported by certified rehabilitation nurses, physical and occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, respiratory therapists, dietitians, and case managers, per NJB News Now.
