The San Antonio date is one stop on BTO's 10-week “No Speed Limit Tour,” which kicks off January 7, 2027, in Orlando, Florida, and closes March 20, 2027, in Carlton, Minnesota, according to Pollstar News. The Tobin Center itself confirmed the local scheduling details, including the presale and public sale windows, in its own announcement. As CultureMap San Antonio notes, attendees should check with the venue to confirm the show is proceeding as scheduled, since any live event remains subject to change because of weather or other concerns.
Audiences can expect the band's signature catalog, including “Takin' Care of Business,” “You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet,” “Let It Ride,” “Roll On Down the Highway,” “Four Wheel Drive,” “Looking Out for #1” and “Hey You.” “You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet” reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in November 1974, a peak that helped push sales of BTO's third studio album, *Not Fragile*, to 3.5 million copies, per historical details compiled on Wikipedia.
A Band Rebuilt Around Family
The current touring lineup reflects a significant shift for a band whose ranks were thinned by loss. Founding guitarist Randy Bachman revived BTO in 2023, this time bringing in his son Tal Bachman on guitar and daughter-in-law KoKo Bachman on drums, rounded out by bassist Lance Lapointe and guitarist Brent Knudsen, according to the same Pollstar report.
That reconstruction followed the deaths of two of BTO's original co-founders in 2023. Drummer Robbie Bachman died in January of that year at age 69, and guitarist Tim Bachman died that April at age 71, as reported by the Associated Press. The band was originally formed in Winnipeg in 1973 by Randy and Robbie Bachman, Tim Bachman, and bassist Fred Turner.
Fresh Off a Guess Who Reunion
Randy Bachman arrives in San Antonio having spent much of the first half of 2026 on the road with former bandmate Burton Cummings performing as The Guess Who, after the pair resolved a decades-long trademark dispute over the band's name in 2024, Pollstar reports. Hoodline covered that reunion tour's stop in Atlanta, where the pair performed hits Bachman and Cummings co-wrote together, including “American Woman” and “These Eyes,” before Bachman departed to form BTO. Bachman's touring resume across both bands includes more than 40 million records sold worldwide and over 120 gold and platinum album and single awards, according to promotional materials from American Music Theatre.
The band's live drawing power has held up in recent theater dates. During a 2025 U.S. tour, BTO grossed $192,072 from 1,659 tickets sold for an October 23, 2025 performance at the Wind Creek Event Center in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, per Pollstar Boxoffice figures.
Inside San Antonio's Historic Venue
The show will take place in the Tobin Center's H-E-B Performance Hall, which opened in September 2014 after a $203 million project converted San Antonio's 1926 Municipal Auditorium into a modern space seating roughly 1,745 patrons for reserved concerts, according to the San Antonio Express-News. The renovation preserved the building's original exterior while completely rebuilding the interior hall.
The Tobin Center also runs an “Arts for All” program offering $10 or free tickets to select performances for local SNAP and WIC recipients, a donor-supported initiative Hoodline first reported when it launched during the venue's 10th anniversary season. It remains unclear whether the BTO date will be included among the shows eligible for that discount program, and it is not yet known how ticket sales will track relative to the venue's roughly 1,745-seat capacity once public sales begin Friday.
