South winds are expected to be around 10 mph today, with gusts up to 18 mph. Rain is unlikely, with only an 8% chance during the day, while afternoon temperatures ease back toward the low 70s after peaking.
Smoke Possible Thursday Night
Patchy smoke could move into the area this evening before 11 PM, followed by partly cloudy skies and a low near 58. The National Weather Service said smoke from the Timber Fire may be carried across the Central Coast and become more noticeable overnight and in the morning.
The most concerning fire-weather conditions are expected south of Santa Clara County, particularly in Monterey and San Benito counties, where elevated showers or thunderstorms could still develop early today. Any storms there could produce erratic gusts of up to 40 mph and lightning, raising the risk of new fire starts.
Foggy Mornings, Gradually Warmer Afternoons
Tomorrow will look much like today, with mostly sunny skies and a high near 74, followed by a low around 57. Patchy fog is possible early Saturday and next Sunday, but both days should turn mostly sunny, with highs of 76 and 77.
The mild pattern continues into next week, with highs near 76 next Monday and Tuesday and around 77 next Wednesday. Morning fog and partly to mostly cloudy skies will remain part of the routine, but the forecast stays essentially dry through next Wednesday.
