Police are searching for an e-bike rider accused of ripping a necklace from a 21-year-old woman in Kingsbridge and leaving her with minor injuries. The daylight robbery happened on a busy Bronx street, and the suspect remains at large.
The incident occurred last Sunday at about 2:55 p.m. on West Kingsbridge Road, according to News 12 New York. Investigators say the person drove up to the woman, yanked the chain from her neck and fled down West Kingsbridge Road on the e-bike.
Police Say The Woman Refused Medical Attention
The victim suffered minor injuries but declined medical attention, police said. No arrest has been announced, and investigators are asking anyone who recognizes the suspect to come forward.
The Kingsbridge robbery comes as police investigate other, apparently separate chain-snatching patterns around New York City. News 12 New York reported in July that police had linked two people to at least 29 robberies and attempted robberies since June 15, while Hoodline reported on a separate Manhattan pattern involving older victims.
The case also lands against a broader backdrop of declining robbery numbers, though individual street robberies remain a concern. In a July crime update, the NYPD said Bronx robberies were down 17.1% year to date through June 30 compared with the same period in 2025, while cautioning that the figures were preliminary.
