Fog Clears As Saturday Heats Up
A Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m. Saturday, with visibility near a quarter-mile or less in parts of the region. The National Weather Service Pittsburgh advises drivers to slow down, use headlights and leave extra distance ahead.
After the fog lifts, southeast winds should stay light at around 3 mph while sunshine and a few clouds carry Pittsburgh through the afternoon. Clouds will increase tonight, with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms around 1 to 2 a.m. before storms become more likely; the low will be near 70, and rainfall totals could reach a quarter- to half-inch.
Storms Take Over Sunday
Sunday looks like the weekend's trouble spot, with showers and thunderstorms expected before 2 p.m. and additional storm chances later in the day. The high should reach 84 degrees, but the chance of precipitation is around 90%, with another half-inch to three-quarters of an inch of rain possible.
The forecast discussion warns that a thunderstorm cluster late Saturday night into Sunday morning could bring flash-flooding concerns and limited damaging winds. Another round of storms is likely Sunday night, especially between 7 p.m. and 2 a.m., with a 90% chance of rain and thunderstorms.
The National Weather Service Pittsburgh also noted that a Flood Watch could become necessary along and south of Interstate 70, though no such watch is currently listed in the forecast report. Residents in flood-prone areas should keep an eye on updates before heading out Sunday.
Cooler, Drier Weather Arrives Monday
Monday brings a cooler high near 82 degrees and a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms, with conditions expected to dry out by evening. Patchy fog could return Monday night, followed by a sunny Tuesday with another high near 82.
Mostly sunny weather is expected Wednesday, though a few afternoon storms could develop, followed by additional shower chances Thursday. Friday currently looks like the quietest day of the late-week stretch, with mostly sunny skies and a high near 78.
