A Saturday evening shooting in Cameron, Missouri, has led to felony charges against a 26-year-old man after a 28-year-old victim was found with a gunshot wound, according to KQ2. The suspect was taken into custody without incident, while the victim’s condition remains unknown.
Travis Alexander Collins Jr. faces charges of first-degree assault, armed criminal action and first-degree endangering the welfare of a child, according to KSHB 41. A court ordered Collins held without bond as the case moves forward.
Cameron police received a 911 call reporting the shooting at about 7:03 p.m. Saturday. Officers responding to a residence found the victim collapsed in a driveway, and police were told Collins had left before they arrived.
Victim Airlifted To Kansas City Area Hospital
Emergency medical personnel first transported the victim to Cameron Regional Medical Center. The victim was later airlifted to a Kansas City-area hospital for additional treatment, as reported by KCTV5, but authorities have not released an update on the person’s condition, KSHB 41 reported.
Police later located Collins in the 300 block of South Walnut Street and took him into custody without incident. Authorities have not publicly detailed what led to the shooting or explained the allegation behind the child-welfare charge.

Charges Are Allegations, Not Convictions
The charges filed against Collins are allegations, and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court. The no-bond order means he will remain held while the criminal case proceeds, subject to further court action.
