Canoga Park Shooting Near Car Wash Leaves Two Hospitalized, Suspect Fled Toward LAPD's Own Station

Two people were hospitalized Sunday morning after a shooting near a car wash on Roscoe Boulevard in Canoga Park, with police describing the suspect only as a 26-year-old man who fled toward the street that happens to house their own West Valley station. The investigation remains active, and officials say they still do not know what led up to the gunfire.

According to KTLA, Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to the 11100 block of Roscoe Boulevard around 7:49 a.m. Sunday after a caller reported being shot, per LAPD Media Relations. Responding officers found a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound and requested an ambulance. Los Angeles Fire Department crews, who also responded to the area for reports of a shooting, ultimately transported two patients to a local hospital, per LAFD. Officials have not immediately provided the patients' ages, genders, or conditions.

Suspect Fled Toward the Block That Houses LAPD's Own Station

Police said the suspect was last seen heading toward Schoenborn Street, a residential street running parallel to Roscoe Boulevard that is also home to the LAPD Topanga Community Police Station at 21501 Schoenborn Street. The Topanga station serves as headquarters for West Valley patrol operations and covers a 32-square-mile area that includes Canoga Park, Winnetka, West Hills, and Woodland Hills. It opened January 3, 2009, as the department's 21st patrol division.

Beyond describing the suspect as a 26-year-old man, police had no additional suspect description immediately available, and no arrest has been announced. Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the Los Angeles Police Department. Those wishing to remain anonymous can also submit tips through LA Regional Crime Stoppers, where tipsters are eligible for cash rewards of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest.
