A 102,000-square-foot Life Time athletic country club is taking shape at 7373 Canyon Forge Drive in Castle Pines, and when it opens, the facility will bring indoor and outdoor pickleball courts, multiple pools, hydrotherapy suites, and a full slate of fitness programming to the fast-growing Douglas County suburb. City officials and Life Time representatives broke ground on the site in September 2025, with a grand opening targeted for November 2026.
According to WhatNow, the new club will be open to both adults and kids, offering access to a Kids Academy alongside personal training, group training, strength training and more than 40 class formats spread across five dedicated studios. Members can expect yoga, Pilates, barre and cycling classes, and the site will include a LifeCafe serving meals and grab-and-go options that connects to a bar and lounge area. The publication describes the project as part of Life Time's growing presence across Colorado.
City records confirm the scale of the undertaking locally. The facility represents the largest commercial development planned within The Canyons, a master-planned neighborhood east of Interstate 25 that's been zoned for 2.1 million square feet of business and commercial space, according to the City of Castle Pines. Municipal planning documents also project the club will employ between 200 and 300 full-time and part-time staff once it's up and running, a workforce that could include personal trainers, group fitness instructors, spa staff and childcare providers.
A Two-Story Build With Local Contractors
The Castle Pines Planning Commission formally approved site improvement plan revisions for the two-story building in April 2025, with Swinerton Construction overseeing general contracting, the city notes. Those revisions reportedly optimized parking layouts while preserving the club's core indoor and outdoor amenities, according to the same city account. Site preparation had already begun in May 2025, ahead of the official groundbreaking ceremony that fall.
Once complete, Castle Pines will mark Life Time's ninth facility in Colorado and eighth in the Denver metro area, following recent additions in Boulder and Wheat Ridge, per the company's own Experience Life publication. The Boulder location, a 36,000-square-foot club, opened in mid-2025. The Castle Pines site sits roughly 15 minutes from existing Life Time clubs in Centennial and Parker-Aurora, and members will get reciprocal access across all three suburban Denver locations.
Why Castle Pines Is Attracting Big Investment
The timing lines up with explosive growth in Castle Pines itself. Incorporated in 2008, the city has seen its population climb more than 47% since 2020, from 11,207 residents to more than 16,500 in 2026, with municipal projections forecasting an eventual population of 33,000 at full buildout, according to World Population Review. Much of that surge is being driven by residential annexations on the city's east side.
Castle Pines also ranks among Colorado's most affluent municipalities, with a median household income of $191,229 in 2026, per the same demographic data. That level of disposable income aligns closely with the pricing structure of Life Time's high-end athletic country club model, making the suburb an attractive target for the company's continued expansion.
Nationally, parent company Life Time Group Holdings operated 241 athletic country clubs across 32 states as of July 2026, with Colorado ranking among its top ten state markets by total location count, according to data from ScrapeHero. Texas and Minnesota remain the company's largest state markets. The Castle Pines club's dedicated pickleball courts also fit a broader national pattern: U.S. court infrastructure expanded to more than 82,000 courts across over 18,000 venues by 2025, with dedicated courts growing more than 20% year-over-year, according to USA Pickleball research.
The Castle Pines location is designed to bring exercise, recreation, and wellness under one roof, and its arrival is expected to serve as a commercial anchor for The Canyons as the neighborhood continues to build out east of the interstate. With a November 2026 opening date on the horizon, the club stands to become one of the most visible additions to the city's rapidly changing skyline.
