Harris was reported last seen around 10 a.m. on July 2 leaving Atrium Hospital in Uptown Charlotte, according to a public appeal issued July 14 by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Missing Persons Unit, logged under incident number 20260713-0006-01. Investigators noted she may have been traveling toward the Beatties Ford Road and Woodford Bridge Drive area in North Charlotte that same afternoon, and that she was accompanied by a small dog named Sapphire. Atrium Health Main sits adjacent to Uptown in the Dilworth neighborhood and functions as a primary regional medical hub for Mecklenburg County, per Queen City Doulas.
Police described Harris as 5 feet 6 inches tall and around 150 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes, in physical descriptions circulated during the search, as reported by WCNC-TV. The area she was reportedly headed toward, near the intersection of Beatties Ford Road and Woodford Bridge Drive, sits roughly 10 miles north of Center City Charlotte near the Huntersville border, according to Redfin property records.

As the search dragged on, family members and friends made public appeals for community help while CMPD continued actively investigating the case, WSOC-TV reported on July 20 — by that point, Harris had been missing for two and a half weeks.
