Denver is starting Saturday, August 1, near 64°F with calm winds, but the weekend forecast is about to turn from pleasant to punishing. Sunshine will push temperatures to 95°F today, followed by a forecast high of 100°F Sunday and 99°F Monday.
Heat Advisory Covers Sunday And Monday
A Heat Advisory will be in effect from noon Sunday, August 2, through 9 p.m. Monday, August 3, across Denver and the I-25 corridor. The National Weather Service says temperatures could reach 98°F to 104°F, with warm overnight lows between 65°F and 72°F, increasing the risk of heat illness.
Sunny Saturday Gives Way To Triple-Digit Heat
Saturday will stay sunny with north winds between 2 and 7 mph, while the low drops to about 66°F Saturday night. Sunday will be sunny and hotter, with southeast winds and gusts up to 16 mph; smoke from Pacific Northwest wildfires may also filter into the region and make the sky hazy.
Cooler Tuesday Brings Storm Chances
Monday remains mostly sunny near 99°F, with a slight chance of showers or thunderstorms arriving Monday night. Tuesday brings a noticeable cooldown to about 84°F, along with a chance of showers and thunderstorms, before temperatures rebound to 92°F Wednesday and the upper 90s later in the week.
Take Heat Precautions Through Monday Evening
Residents should drink plenty of fluids, use air conditioning when possible, and limit strenuous outdoor activity during the afternoon. Lightweight clothing, early-morning or evening workouts, and checking on relatives and neighbors can help reduce the risk of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
The new advisory follows another round of extreme Denver heat covered by Hoodline in July, but this weekend’s forecast again puts triple-digit temperatures on the calendar.
