Detroit is waking up today to dense fog and near-zero visibility, but the gray start should give way to a hot, partly sunny afternoon. Temperatures will climb from around 70 degrees early to near 86, with muggy air sticking around.
A Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 8 a.m. today for Wayne County and much of southeast Michigan. The National Weather Service Detroit/Pontiac advises drivers to slow down, use headlights, and leave extra distance because visibility may drop to a quarter-mile or less.
Fog Fades As Temperatures Climb
Fog and a slight chance of showers or thunderstorms are possible before 8 a.m., then skies should gradually brighten. South-southwest winds will stay light at 2 to 7 mph, while afternoon temperatures settle into the mid-80s after an early peak near 86.
Tonight brings a slight chance of showers or thunderstorms around 7 to 8 p.m., followed by partly cloudy skies and a low near 67. Thursday should be quieter, with partly sunny skies, a high near 85 and only a slight chance of rain overnight.
Mostly Dry Stretch Gives Way To Storm Chances
Friday looks mostly sunny and warm, with a high near 84 and a cooler low around 64 Friday night. Saturday should remain mostly sunny for much of the day, though a slight chance of showers arrives after 8 a.m.
The bigger weather shift comes late Saturday into next Sunday, when showers and thunderstorms become likely. Next Sunday could reach 86 degrees before next Monday turns mostly sunny and cooler, with a high near 82.
