El Paso is waking to clear skies and temperatures around 75 degrees, but the comfortable start will not last. Monday afternoon will climb to 102 degrees, with a Heat Advisory in effect from noon to 9 p.m. for the Rio Grande Valley of eastern El Paso County and western Hudspeth County.
Tuesday Looks Even Hotter
The National Weather Service’s El Paso office is calling for an even hotter Tuesday, with a high near 105 and heat-index values reaching 100. Wednesday will remain dangerously hot near 104, while light east-southeast winds of generally 2 to 7 mph offer little relief.
Dry Stretch Holds Through Midweek
Rain chances will stay close to zero across El Paso through Wednesday, with mostly sunny skies dominating the forecast. A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms arrives Thursday night at 20%, and storm chances should gradually improve across the region into next weekend, especially in the mountains.
Outdoor Plans Should Move To Cooler Hours
Afternoon humidity in the lowlands is expected to fall into the lower and middle teens, with some areas dropping below 10%, making the air exceptionally dry even when the heat index is slightly lower than the actual temperature. Residents should drink water regularly, seek shade or air conditioning, limit strenuous afternoon activity, and check on children, older adults, neighbors, and pets.
The latest advisory and the forecast push toward the 105-degree mark, a sharper escalation than the earlier stretch of hot weather Hoodline previously reported. Friday through Sunday will ease only slightly, with highs near 100 to 101 and overnight lows in the upper 70s.
