Two El Paso Mexican restaurants landed at the bottom of the city’s latest inspection roundup, though neither fell below the passing line. El Hut scored 75, and Delicious Mexican Eatery scored 79, putting both kitchens in the “needs attention” category without triggering an automatic closure.
The scores came during inspections conducted Monday through Friday across El Paso and nearby communities, according to El Paso Times. The same round produced 28 perfect scores of 100, so the weekly report had plenty of gold stars alongside its two low marks.
El Paso’s public food-score portal lists 70 or higher as passing and says scores of 60 or lower initiate closure. The city also cautions that an inspection score is a snapshot of conditions on a particular day, while an imminent health hazard can lead to immediate action regardless of the number.
Which Restaurants Posted The Lowest Scores
El Hut received a 75 during Friday’s inspection, making it the lowest-scoring restaurant in the roundup. Delicious Mexican Eatery received a 79 during Monday’s inspection, placing it just above El Hut but still well below the many restaurants that scored in the 90s.
The latest results do not mean either restaurant is permanently unsafe, and failed establishments generally receive an opportunity to correct violations before a reinspection. The El Paso Times report also notes that inspection scores should not be treated as a complete measure of a restaurant’s long-term condition.
This is becoming a familiar rhythm in El Paso’s weekly inspection lists: a few kitchens hover near the cutoff while dozens of others post strong or perfect results. Earlier El Paso inspection coverage likewise found restaurants passing by only a slim margin, as per Hoodline.
