A Corridor With a History of Trouble
This stretch of I-10 near Vance Jackson has seen its share of serious incidents in recent years. All eastbound lanes between Vance Jackson Road and West Avenue were shut for hours after a major early-morning collision in February 2025, according to the San Antonio Express-News. That same year, a driver was arrested after causing a rollover crash on I-10 West near the Vance Jackson exit ramp and then fleeing the scene, the paper also reported, and a motorcyclist taking that same exit lost control and struck a guardrail in May 2025, critically injuring a passenger before fleeing.
Sunday's crash also comes as the surrounding interchange remains in flux.
