Fenway Park will double as a baseball cathedral and a broadcasting classroom Wednesday, when NESN brings back its Women’s Celebration Night with a new group of young voices in the mix. Three local high school students will get a look at the work happening both on camera and behind it.
The Red Sox-White Sox matchup will feature NESN’s third annual Women’s Celebration Night and the network’s second consecutive all-female broadcast, with more than 25 women contributing on air or behind the scenes, according to Boston.com. Emma Tiedemann is set to handle play-by-play, with Alanna Rizzo providing color commentary, Nicole Menner anchoring the studio, and Sophia Jurksztowicz and The Athletic’s Jen McCaffrey contributing reporting and insight.
Three Students Get A Front-Row Seat
The new wrinkle puts Bella Daddario, Sophia Alvarado, and Karlee McLean inside the production. Daddario, a 15-year-old from Topsfield and junior host of “NESN Clubhouse,” will work as the in-game reporter, while Chelsea’s Alvarado shadows the broadcast team and Burlington’s McLean joins the production truck, NESN’s earlier announcement shows.
Daddario told Boston.com that she is excited to demonstrate that sports broadcasting is a place where young women can be included and valued. Her role also gives the night a particularly local feel: The next generation will not just be watching the broadcast from the stands or the couch, but helping make it happen.
A Broadcast Tradition With A Bigger Bench
NESN’s 2025 Women’s Celebration Night marked the first time an all-female booth called a complete Red Sox game, with Tiedemann and Rizzo among the broadcasters. The network’s Women of NESN initiative describes the effort as part of its push to create more opportunities for women in sports media, and this year’s format expands that opportunity beyond the established professionals.
The night will still come with the usual Fenway ingredients. The Red Sox promotion page says fans who purchase through the special offer will receive a limited-edition Women’s Celebration jersey designed by Boston artist Monique Aimee, while Sports Girls Club will host a pregame party and The Lazy Susans will perform on Jersey Street.
That combination makes Wednesday’s event more than a themed broadcast or a one-night novelty. It gives Boston sports fans an all-female game presentation to watch while putting three aspiring broadcasters close enough to see how the whole production works—from the reporter’s spot to the control room.
