Forest Hill police are searching for a 53-year-old man on a murder warrant after a last evening shooting left one person dead and another injured on Bowling Green Street. Officers responded to a reported shooting at about 5:47 p.m. and found two injured people at the scene, with one pronounced dead and the other taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Forest Hill Police Chief David Hernandez said on scene that officers cordoned off much of Bowling Green Street and placed a second inner ring of crime tape around a white residence in the 4200 block, according to WFAA. Hernandez confirmed three people were involved in the incident: the deceased victim, the injured victim, and a suspect who fled the scene. Police have identified that suspect as Danny Ray Taylor Jr., and the deceased victim's identity is being withheld until next of kin are notified, according to FOX 4.
Suspect May Be Driving a White Cadillac
Investigators believe Taylor may be driving a white 2014 Cadillac CTS bearing Texas license plate KCM1104. Forest Hill police have urged the public not to approach or try to detain him, and instead to call law enforcement immediately if he or the vehicle is spotted, per the same report. Fox 4's account does not specify Taylor's relationship to either victim, and that connection remains an open question in the investigation.
The Forest Hill Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division is leading the probe, with help from the Tarrant County Crime Scene Division, the Texas Rangers, and the Fort Worth Police Department. That kind of multi-agency backup is typical for the small department: as of June 2025, city records showed Forest Hill employed just 17 sworn officers and seven cadets out of a charter-authorized strength of 28, according to the City of Forest Hill. Forest Hill is a Civil Service city under Texas Local Government Code Chapter 143, which governs how the department tests and recruits officers.
A Familiar Pattern for a Small Department
Forest Hill police have leaned on the same partnerships before. In February 2025, Hoodline reported that Forest Hill police worked with the Texas Rangers and Fort Worth police to arrest a murder suspect in Fort Worth following a deadly shooting at a local business. A month later, in March 2025, Forest Hill police and the Rangers tracked a capital murder suspect all the way to Livingston, Texas, after a double homicide at a Forest Hill car wash, per city records. Those joint investigations have produced convictions, too — in January, a defendant received two life sentences for capital murder cases tied to 2023 shootings in both Forest Hill and Fort Worth.
Bowling Green Street itself has seen deadly violence before. In March 2016, 17-year-old former Polytechnic High School student Christian Rhodes was fatally shot at a residence in the neighboring 4100 block, and police at the time charged an 18-year-old suspect with murder after he turned himself in, WFAA reported. Forest Hill, a roughly 4.2-square-mile city of about 14,000 residents southeast of Fort Worth, was incorporated as a village in 1946 before becoming a city in 1949, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

Under Texas Penal Code Section 19.02, murder is a first-degree felony carrying a punishment range of five to 99 years or life in prison, along with a fine of up to $10,000. Texas law allows a murder charge to be reduced to a second-degree felony only if the defense proves at sentencing that the act was committed under sudden passion, per legal guidance cited by Saputo Toufexis.
