A former Lilburn child therapist was convicted Friday of sexually abusing a teenage girl he met when she was 15. A Gwinnett County jury found Gregory Leon Frazier guilty after prosecutors said the abuse continued more than 50 times over two years.
According to FOX 5 Atlanta, the 52-year-old former child mental health practitioner was convicted of two counts of rape, two counts of aggravated child molestation, statutory rape and aggravated sexual battery. Prosecutors said the girl was not Frazier’s official client when they met in 2021.
The girl testified that Frazier sexually abused her repeatedly over the following two years. Frazier took the stand in his own defense, admitting that he had sex with the teenager while describing himself as a “father figure” who did not want to reject her.
Second Witness Described Similar Experiences
The jury also heard from a second, unrelated victim who testified about similar experiences with Frazier. The Gwinnett County District Attorney’s Office has not disclosed that person’s identity or age, and it has not said whether separate charges have been filed in connection with that testimony.
Prosecutors also presented evidence that Frazier used a massage gun to injure the girl’s genitals, according to the case account. District Attorney Patsy Austin-Gatson called the conduct especially serious because Frazier worked as a child mental health practitioner, saying it was “egregious” that he took advantage of a child’s vulnerability, as reported by the Gwinnett County District Attorney’s Office.
Sentencing Date Has Not Been Set
Frazier will be sentenced at a later date, but prosecutors have not announced when that hearing will take place. No sentence was issued Friday following the verdict.
