San Diego’s coast is waking up under gray skies today, with temperatures around 70 degrees before a mostly sunny afternoon reaches 78. The morning marine layer should retreat toward the shoreline by late morning, setting up a calmer, warmer stretch through the weekend. Inland, however, the weather story is far more intense.
Clouds Fade As Temperatures Edge Higher
Today’s southwest winds remain light, generally 0 to 10 mph, and rain is essentially off the table. Tomorrow stays partly sunny with a high near 77, followed by mostly sunny skies and highs near 79 on Thursday, 80 on Friday, and 81 on Saturday and next Sunday.
Heat Advisories Cover Inland Areas
According to the National Weather Service in San Diego, a Heat Advisory runs from 10 AM today through 8 PM Saturday for the San Diego County mountains, along with the Inland Empire and nearby mountain and valley areas. An Extreme Heat Warning remains in effect through 8 PM Saturday for the San Diego County deserts, where highs can climb from 110 to 115 degrees through Thursday and reach 112 to 116 degrees Saturday.
Cooler Nights Along The Coast
Coastal nights stay mild, with lows near 68 today and tomorrow, then around 69 or 70 through the weekend. Low clouds are expected to return late each night and spread inland during the morning, while the coast clears again during the day. No hazardous marine conditions are expected through Friday.
Next Sunday and Monday bring a slight uptick in moisture, but the coast should remain mostly sunny with highs near 81 next Sunday and 80 next Monday. The forecast only puts a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms over the mountains next Sunday afternoon and next Monday afternoon, so most beach and city plans should stay dry.
