DeKalb County police officers responded Wednesday afternoon to reports of a shooting on Glen Hollow Circle, the residential street that runs through the Glen Hollow Apartments complex near Flat Shoals Parkway in Decatur. No injuries have been reported, and authorities have not released any details about a possible suspect or what led up to the gunfire. The investigation remains open as police continue gathering information.
According to FOX 5 Atlanta, law enforcement officials confirmed they responded to reports of gunfire in the area but have not said whether anyone was injured or whether a suspect has been identified. DeKalb County police told the outlet that further updates would be released as details are confirmed. Separately, 11Alive reported that officers were dispatched to the 3800 block of Flat Shoals Parkway, pinpointing the shooting to the same Glen Hollow Apartments property.
A Complex With a Troubled History
Wednesday's incident is far from the first time gunfire has rattled Glen Hollow Apartments. Just four months earlier, in April, a woman was shot during an overnight shooting at the complex, as reported by FOX 5 Atlanta at the time. And in July 2025, a 40-year-old man was hospitalized with multiple gunshot wounds after an early morning shooting at the same property, located off Panthersville Road near Interstate 285, per the outlet's earlier reporting.
The complex's history stretches back further still. In March 2025, DeKalb County police arrested 39-year-old Diamon Clay in connection with a fatal shooting at Glen Hollow Apartments, a case Hoodline covered as it unfolded. Years before that, in December 2021, a man in his early 30s was killed in a shooting at the property, and investigators recovered between 60 and 90 shell casings on Glen Hollow Circle, according to WSB-TV Channel 2. The complex also has a darker chapter in its past: the DeKalb County District Attorney's Office announced in August 2018 that a Decatur man was convicted of malice murder and child cruelty in the April 2017 death of his 10-year-old adopted son at their Glen Hollow Drive apartment.
Countywide Crime Trends Complicate the Picture
The repeated violence at Glen Hollow stands in tension with recent statements from DeKalb County officials touting broader improvements. The Major Cities Chiefs Association's 2025 Violent Crime Survey found that the DeKalb County Police Department recorded 91 homicides in 2025, a 29.5 percent drop from 129 homicides in 2024. Ahead of a public town hall meeting, DeKalb County police highlighted overall reductions in homicides, violent crime, and property crime across the county, 11Alive reported.
Still, the recurring gunfire at Glen Hollow reflects a persistent challenge specific to certain apartment complexes along the Flat Shoals corridor, even as countywide numbers trend downward. Hoodline reported on a similar pattern earlier this month at a Lithonia complex with a violent past, and last month covered a fatal shooting just blocks away on Flat Shoals Road in Decatur.
Department Scale and How to Report Tips
The DeKalb County Police Department, led by Chief Gregory A. Padrick, covers more than 700,000 residents across 271 square miles, according to the DeKalb County government website. Police have not said what led up to Wednesday's gunfire, and the case remains under investigation.
