A motorcyclist was seriously injured Thursday afternoon after becoming trapped between two vehicles in a three-vehicle crash near Sandy’s Highway 26 and SE 362nd Avenue. The collision triggered a trauma response and a request for an air ambulance, while the initial public account did not identify those involved or give a cause.
Clackamas Fire said in a Friday Facebook post that crews were called around 4:06 p.m. to the reported multi-vehicle crash. The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office arrived first, and fire crews, AMR, Life Flight and Sandy police also responded.
Life Flight Took Injured Rider To Hospital
Responders provided medical treatment at the scene and secured a landing zone for the helicopter. AMR transported the patient to that landing zone, where Life Flight 2 flew the injured motorcyclist to a hospital.
Initial reports described the rider’s injuries as serious and traumatic. Once emergency crews finished their work, the scene was turned over to law enforcement for investigation, and officials had not announced any citations or arrests.
Highway 26 Intersection Has Seen Earlier Serious Crashes
The same Sandy intersection has been the site of previous major collisions. In June 2024, the Sandy Police Department said a three-vehicle crash at Highway 26 and 362nd Avenue injured one driver, briefly closed the highway and led to a reckless-driving citation.
Elsewhere along Highway 26 near Sandy, Oregon State Police said an April 30 crash killed one passenger and sent another person to a hospital by Life Flight. That earlier collision, detailed in an Oregon State Police release, remained a separate investigation from Thursday’s crash.
