Among those removed from the scene was a child, who was taken away by firefighters, the station reported. The exact medical condition of those hospitalized has not been disclosed.
Cause Still Under Investigation
As of Tuesday morning, the cause of the fire had not been determined, per the same report. Under Massachusetts General Law Chapter 148, Section 2, local fire officials are legally required to investigate the origin and circumstances of any fire that damages property, and must immediately notify the State Fire Marshal if a fire's cause is undetermined or suspicious, according to Massachusetts General Law. If Holbrook fire officers cannot pin down what sparked the blaze themselves, state investigators would be expected to step in to conduct a formal review.
It remains unclear whether the mobile home was built before or after June 1976, when federal HUD safety standards for manufactured housing took effect.
