The forecast calls for mostly sunny skies through much of the morning before showers and thunderstorms become possible after 3 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. Storm chances reach about 30%, and any downpour could arrive quickly with gusty winds and locally heavy rain.
Storms Could Complicate The Evening
West winds will run around 5 to 10 mph Wednesday, with gusts up to 20 mph possible. The most unsettled stretch should be from midafternoon into the early evening, with showers and thunderstorms possible before skies turn partly cloudy overnight.
Forecasters are also watching for isolated damaging wind gusts as storm activity moves across North Georgia. Even without an official advisory, people heading to outdoor events or driving during the afternoon should keep an eye on changing skies and allow extra time for a sudden heavy shower.
Atlanta Heat Intensifies Through Next Week
Thursday looks even hotter, with a high near 94 and a heat index around 101, though the rain chance drops to about 20%. Friday should reach 96 degrees, followed by a weekend stretch near 98 on Saturday and 97 on Sunday.
The heat is expected to linger into Monday and Tuesday, when highs could again reach the upper 90s. Overnight lows will offer limited relief, staying in the mid- to upper 70s, and no watches, warnings or advisories are currently posted for the Atlanta area.
