The storm chance is about 30%, so this is not expected to be an all-day washout. Still, the strongest cells could bring brief heavy rain, lightning and gusty winds, according to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City.
Wednesday Could Bring Stronger Storms
Wednesday looks slightly hotter, with mostly sunny skies, a high near 92 and heat-index values up to 98. A 20% storm chance arrives during the afternoon, with wind gusts up to 20 mph even outside of thunderstorms.
Forecasters are also watching for a more organized cluster of storms to move into northern Georgia late Wednesday. Any stronger storm could produce damaging wind gusts, so outdoor plans should include a way to get indoors quickly.
Weekend Heat Takes Over
The bigger weather story arrives later in the week. Highs are expected to reach about 94 degrees Thursday, 95 Friday, 97 Saturday, 96 Sunday and 97 Monday, with mostly sunny skies and only limited rain chances.
That hotter stretch is a more intense version of the summer heat-and-storm pattern Hoodline previously reported. Overnight lows will stay in the mid to upper 70s, offering little relief before the next day’s heat builds.
Plan Outdoor Time Earlier
Tuesday and Wednesday are best handled with water, shade and flexible plans, especially during the midafternoon hours. Consider moving strenuous outdoor activities to the morning, and head indoors immediately if thunder is heard.
