Indianapolis is getting one of those deceptively pleasant summer days: clear skies early Tuesday, a high near 80 and only a light breeze. Some outlying areas could briefly see patchy fog near daybreak, but it should lift quickly as the morning warms.
Tuesday afternoon stays sunny with west-northwest winds of 2 to 6 mph. Tonight will turn partly cloudy, with temperatures dipping to around 66 before edging back toward 68 overnight, according to the National Weather Service.
Wednesday Brings Showers And Flooding Concerns
The quiet stretch ends Wednesday, when rain showers could arrive between late morning and early afternoon before showers and thunderstorms become more likely. The high should reach about 77, with a 60% chance of precipitation and possible rainfall totals between a quarter-inch and half-inch.
Localized flash flooding is possible because soils remain saturated from recent rain, and storms could repeat over the same areas. Severe weather is not expected, but an isolated damaging wind gust cannot be ruled out, so drivers should never attempt to cross a flooded roadway.
Sunshine Returns For The End Of The Week
Thursday looks milder and mostly dry, with a high near 79 and only a slight chance of showers or a thunderstorm. Friday should be sunny near 80, with a cooler low around 63 Friday night.
A 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms returns Saturday before a sunnier Sunday with a high near 77. Monday is expected to stay mostly sunny and mild, topping out around 78.
