Jeff Wyler Superior Honda is packing up its Mitchell Avenue operations in Cincinnati and moving to a long-vacant industrial lot in Norwood, a relocation the Jeff Wyler Automotive Family says will bring roughly 100 new jobs to the area. The dealership currently sits at 4777 Spring Grove Avenue near Interstate 75 Exit 6 on Mitchell Avenue, and the new site is a 5.9-acre parcel at the southwest corner of Forest and Harris avenues, right along the Norwood Lateral.
According to WKRC, Jeff Wyler Automotive Family acquired the Norwood property on June 23, 2026, and plans to build a new Honda dealership there featuring expanded vehicle sales operations, a new showroom, a service center, and a parts department. The station reports the company will redevelop a property that has sat vacant for years, with the new dealership targeted to open in fall 2028. That timeline lines up with the site's own history: the 5.9-acre parcel was previously home to a Zumbiel Packaging facility before being acquired, demolished, and marketed by Terrex Development & Construction under the project name On the Lateral, taking advantage of direct visibility along State Route 562.
Jeff Wyler Automotive Family CEO David Wyler said the company intends to build one of the premier Honda dealerships in the Midwest, per the station's report. Construction will begin once planning, design, and permitting are completed, and the company has said it will announce additional details about construction progress, the dealership's eventual name, and a grand opening date at a later time.
A Vacant Lot Becomes a Jobs Win for Norwood
Norwood Mayor Victor Schneider said transforming the property and creating approximately 100 jobs is a win for Norwood and the entire region, according to the same account. The mayor's comments frame the project as both an economic boost and a long-awaited use for a site that had stood empty for years after the packaging plant closed.
The Forest and Harris intersection carries some local history of its own. Per the Norwood Historical Society and Wikipedia, the corner was once the site of the Norwood Water Works Pump Station, built in 1894, as well as an early East Norwood rail transit stop. Norwood grew rapidly as a manufacturing hub in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, at one point earning the nickname the “Chicago of Hamilton County” for its dense industrial base.
Highway Frontage Comes With a Traffic Track Record
The new dealership property borders the Norwood Lateral, the roughly three-mile expressway that connects Interstate 71 and Interstate 75 through Hamilton County. That corridor recently underwent a $21 million pavement and bridge rehabilitation project led by the Ohio Department of Transportation, giving the highway fresh infrastructure just as a major new commercial user moves in next door.
The Lateral has also drawn scrutiny for safety. Ohio State Highway Patrol data cited in Hoodline’s coverage shows the highway has recorded more than 700 traffic crashes since 2019, a figure state transportation officials have pointed to when planning lane closures for maintenance work. Hoodline has also reported on a manslaughter charge tied to a fatal crash on the Lateral, underscoring the corridor's ongoing public-safety concerns even as it becomes a more prominent commercial address.
Part of a Bigger Expansion for the Wyler Group
The Norwood project follows a period of rapid growth for the Jeff Wyler Automotive Family. In January 2026, the company completed a $500 million acquisition of Midwestern Auto Group in Dublin, Ohio, adding 14 luxury franchises — including Ferrari, Porsche, and Lamborghini — to form what's being called The Wyler Collection, according to CBT News. That deal is projected to add roughly $500 million in incremental annual revenue to the dealer group.
Founded in 1973 and headquartered in Milford, Ohio, Jeff Wyler Automotive Family now operates more than 23 dealership locations across Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana with over 2,500 employees representing more than 40 franchises. Industry rankings from Caruso & Co. place the group 53rd nationally among U.S. dealership networks by total site count, with 24 locations — a scale that helps explain why the company is willing to build a standalone Honda campus rather than keep the brand folded into its existing Mitchell Avenue cluster.
That cluster currently includes Jeff Wyler Superior Hyundai and Jeff Wyler Superior Kia, both located on West Mitchell Avenue, where the corridor has long served as a sales and body shop hub for the company's Superior-branded stores. What the Honda departure means for that remaining Mitchell Avenue campus has not been detailed, and the company has not yet said how the site's role might change once Honda relocates to Norwood.
Norwood's push to redevelop the Forest and Harris corner also fits into broader city efforts to update infrastructure along its commercial districts. City leaders have used SORTA Metro Transit Infrastructure Fund grants to revise traffic patterns at intersections like Montgomery Road, part of a wider focus on pedestrian safety and streetscape improvements that Hoodline detailed last October. For now, the Honda relocation remains in its early planning stages, with construction timing, the dealership's eventual name, and grand-opening details still to be announced.
