Charlotte shoppers can now get their SKIMS fix without leaving North Carolina, as Kim Kardashian’s shapewear and basics brand has opened its first local storefront at SouthPark Mall.
The store quietly opened Friday, bringing SKIMS’ signature shapewear, underwear, bras, loungewear, basics, swimwear and other everyday essentials to the south Charlotte shopping center, according to Axios Charlotte. The brand is known for its earthy color palette and inclusive sizing ranging from XXS through 4X.
SKIMS Joins SouthPark’s High-Profile Retail Lineup
The new shop is located across from Sephora inside SouthPark Mall, with hours running from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. SouthPark’s official shopping directory lists SKIMS among the center’s women’s apparel retailers.
SouthPark had been positioning the arrival as a major retail get for Charlotte. In March, the Charlotte Business Journal reported that the store would be SKIMS’ first in Charlotte and the Carolinas, part of the mall’s effort to attract in-demand national brands.
A Fresh Retail Push At The South Charlotte Mall
The opening comes as SouthPark continues refreshing its in-person shopping mix rather than simply coasting on its luxury reputation. Urban Outfitters reopened its Charlotte location at the mall in May with a redesigned store concept, describing SouthPark as the Carolinas’ largest shopping destination in an official company announcement.
For Charlotte shoppers, SKIMS adds another highly recognizable name to a mall already packed with fashion, beauty and luxury brands. The main SouthPark center is located at 4400 Sharon Road and has more than 150 stores, according to Simon.
