Las Vegas to Bake in Brutal 110-Degree Heat as Extreme Warning Grips Valley Through Friday

Las Vegas is starting Tuesday, August 25, under clear skies and around 86 degrees, but the valley is headed for 108 by afternoon and a three-day run near 110. An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect through 8 p.m. Friday, with overnight lows in the upper 80s offering little relief.

Heat Peaks Wednesday And Thursday

According to the National Weather Service, Las Vegas will reach about 108 degrees Tuesday, followed by highs near 110 Wednesday and Thursday and 108 Friday. Wednesday’s forecast also includes heat-index values as high as 105, while afternoon winds should generally stay light to moderate.

The latest forecast sharpens an already familiar pattern. An earlier Hoodline forecast last Wednesday also flagged 110-degree heat and storm chances, but this warning now covers the valley through Friday evening.

Storm Odds Stay Low In The Valley

Rain chances are just 2% Tuesday, dropping to zero Wednesday and remaining near zero Thursday, though isolated storms could develop over higher terrain and areas along or south of I-15. Any storm that forms may bring a quick heavy downpour, sudden gusty winds or localized flash flooding, even while most of the valley stays dry.

A Little Relief Arrives Next Week

Temperatures ease slightly over the weekend, with a high near 106 Saturday, 103 Sunday and 99 Monday. Saturday and Monday carry a slight chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms, while overnight lows gradually fall from the upper 80s to around 81 by Sunday night.

Heat Safety Remains The Main Concern

Residents should drink plenty of fluids, use air conditioning when possible and avoid strenuous outdoor activity during the hottest part of the day. The weather service also advises checking on relatives and neighbors and never leaving children or pets in an unattended vehicle, where temperatures can become lethal within minutes.
