The last call is coming for a Quincy Italian restaurant that has been feeding South Shore families for more than three decades. Gennaro & Son Italian Bistro will close permanently this Saturday, ending a roughly 32-year run just south of Boston.
The family-friendly restaurant announced the shutdown in a Sunday Facebook post, thanking customers for more than 31 years of “friendship, trust, and love” and encouraging diners to stop in for one final goodbye, according to MassLive.
One Last Plate Of Chicken Marsala And Stuffed Peppers
Before the doors close, the restaurant’s published menu features the kind of familiar Italian-American comfort food that made it a neighborhood fixture, including chicken Marsala, stuffed peppers, steak tip gorgonzola, New England baked haddock, pastas, pizzas, soups, salads, and sandwiches, as listed on the restaurant’s website.
The business originally opened as Gennaro’s in December 1994 before changing its name to Gennaro & Son as Anthony Gennaro took on a larger role. The restaurant also said Gerry Gennaro is stepping back to focus on his health and well-being, while thanking past and present staff members who helped keep the operation running, MassLive reported.
For Quincy regulars, this week is the final chance to grab one of the restaurant’s famously generous meals, say goodbye to familiar staff, and settle the age-old question of whether the leftovers make it home. After Saturday, the answer will be academic.
