A Jackson County grand jury has indicted a Lee's Summit man accused of kidnapping a child. The indictment follows an alleged kidnapping during which law enforcement stopped a car on Interstate 70 and found the child safe inside.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol issued an AMBER Alert on August 10 in connection with the alleged kidnapping, the station's report notes. Missouri's AMBER Alert protocol says other options can be explored when a case does not meet the alert's criteria, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. According to the Office of Justice Programs' AMBER Alert statistics, as of December 31, 2025, 1,312 children had been successfully recovered through AMBER Alert activations, including at least 252 who were rescued.
