Stevie Boyd was already behind bars on an 11-month domestic-violence sentence when a grand jury charged him in a fatal Whitehaven shooting. The 29-year-old convicted felon is also accused of especially aggravated robbery and multiple firearm offenses in the February killing.
Boyd was booked into the Shelby County Jail on June 9 and later found guilty in the domestic-violence case. According to Action News 5, an indictment handed down July 20 charges him with first-degree murder, especially aggravated robbery, employing a firearm with intent to commit a dangerous felony and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
The case centers on a shooting around midnight on February 21 in the 3600 block of Millbranch Road. The Memphis Police Department said officers found an adult man suffering from gunshot wounds, and the victim later died at a hospital after being transported for treatment.
Boyd's Record And Next Court Date
The shooting followed a separate domestic altercation at Boyd's mother's house on February 14, court records show. As reported by Action News 5, officers arrested Boyd on February 28 after responding to a loitering call and finding him unlawfully carrying a handgun; he was released on bail days later and remained free until his June 9 domestic-violence arrest.
Boyd was formally identified as a suspect in the Whitehaven homicide on July 17 and remains held without bond. His arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday morning, while the murder and firearm charges remain allegations that must be resolved in court.
