A 19-year-old already awaiting trial on murder charges in a deadly ambush outside Club 7 in Shively is facing a fresh set of assault charges — this time for three separate fights caught on camera inside the Louisville Metro Corrections jail. Chance Guthrie appeared in court Friday morning to answer to the new assault charges, which stem from altercations behind bars rather than anything on the street.
According to WDRB, jail cameras captured all three fights, and court records show Guthrie now faces three new assault charges as a result. The station's report notes Guthrie is being held while he awaits trial in connection with the February shooting outside Club 7 in Shively, where police say he was one of five people involved in an ambush-style killing. What Happened Outside Club 7
Police say the February shooting outside Club 7 in Shively involved about 60 shots and killed 26-year-old Rodney Parker while injuring another man, according to WHAS-TV. WDRB described the shooting as a coordinated attack. Police allege Guthrie was one of five people involved.
Guthrie is also charged in a separate September 2025 shooting in Louisville's Taylor Berry neighborhood. Police allege Guthrie fired multiple shots at a man while riding in a stolen car with a second suspect, striking the victim in the foot, per the WDRB report. A Homicide Conviction At Age 14
Guthrie's history with violence goes back much further than last year. In 2021, when he was 14 years old, Guthrie was involved in a shooting death involving 14-year-old Darrin Thiele, according to WDRB. Guthrie was convicted of manslaughter in 2022.
Guthrie served about four years in prison, including substantial time in a juvenile facility, before he was released in late 2025. Guthrie later completed his sentence in adult prison.
