A masked man spent about an hour roaming a Weston property before dawn Sunday, shining a flashlight, hauling a hunting chair toward the woods and apparently retreating after noticing surveillance cameras. Now police are asking neighbors to help identify him.
The homeowner was away for the weekend and discovered the footage afterward, according to CBS Boston. Police say the figure appeared to come from a nearby trail and approached the Highland Street house with a flashlight. Investigators are asking neighbors to check cameras capturing activity between 2 and 4 a.m. Sunday.
What The Weston Camera Captured
The surveillance video shows a person wearing a mask and, in one image, what appears to be a bicycle helmet. At another point, the person appears to move a hunting chair from the property toward the woods, while spending roughly an hour circling the grounds.
Weston Police Chief Denis Linehan called the scene deeply concerning, telling CBS Boston, “It’s creepy, there is no doubt about it.” He said the late-night timing, the mask and the person’s extended presence led investigators to believe the man may have been on the property with criminal intent.
The person was reportedly scared away after seeing the home’s cameras, but police had not publicly identified him or announced an arrest. It also remained unclear whether the man entered the residence or whether anything was taken from the property.
