Mesquite has opened Fire Station 8, the city’s first ground-up fire station in 33 years, giving the fast-growing Trinity Pointe area a new base for fire and emergency medical response. The station is expected to improve response times not only for southern Mesquite but across the city’s expanding public-safety network.
In yesterday's update, the City of Mesquite, TX Government said the state-of-the-art station is located near FM 2757 and FM 740 and will serve residents in the city’s southern section.
A Fire Station Built Around Trinity Pointe’s Growth
The city’s announcement of the project described Station 8 as a roughly 15,700-square-foot full-service facility with an engine, ambulances, a water tower and workspace for Mesquite police officers. The same City of Mesquite release said more than 4,000 homes were planned or under construction in Trinity Pointe, alongside new retail, commercial and business development.
State construction records describe the completed facility as a roughly 17,180-square-foot station with a four-bay apparatus garage, firefighter living quarters and a police substation, according to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. The project was built with public funds and lists an estimated cost of $11.7 million in the state filing.
From 1993’s Station 7 To Mesquite’s Eighth Firehouse
Station 8 marks the first new fire station built from the ground up in Mesquite since Station 7 opened in 1993. Earlier Hoodline coverage reported on the March 2025 groundbreaking, when city officials tied the project to rapid population and economic growth in the Kaufman County portion of Mesquite.
The station’s staffing was part of the city’s broader public-safety spending plan. City budget materials called for 14 additional Fire Department positions connected to the Trinity Pointe station, while officials said a voter-approved 2023 tax-rate election helped fund Station 8 and other municipal priorities, as outlined in a city budget publication.
Officials Expect Faster Service As Development Continues
The city has not released a new average response-time figure tied to the station’s opening, but officials have consistently said the facility is intended to shorten trips for crews responding in the southern sector. With Station 8 now online, Mesquite is adding emergency capacity in a part of the city where residential construction and commercial development are still moving ahead.
