Moberly police responded to a shooting Sunday night in the 500 block of Morehead Street, and officials say the scene has since been secured with no ongoing threat to the public. Details about any victims, injuries, or a possible motive have not been released as the investigation continues.
According to a release cited by KMZU, officials will share further details once the investigation is completed. The Moberly Police Department is investigating the shooting, and as KMMO reported, officers declared the incident isolated after securing the area Sunday night.

The Morehead Street shooting comes just two days after a Moberly courtroom closed the book on another violent case. On August 21, a 69-year-old Moberly resident was sentenced in Randolph County Circuit Court to 20 years in prison for second-degree murder, stemming from a July 2025 fatal porch shooting of a 23-year-old woman, per the same KMMO account. The bench trial wrapped up earlier this year, with sentencing landing just days before officers were called out to Morehead Street.
It is not the first time Moberly police have investigated a deadly shooting in a residential neighborhood. In February 2025, officers opened a homicide investigation after responding to a fatal shooting in the 500 block of North Moulton Street, where a 37-year-old man was found dead inside a home.
